Project Description:
Facility Dynamics Engineering provided commissioning services to the state of Iowa for the new Hygienic Laboratory. The laboratory was created to study various diseases and to protect the health and environment for citizens of the state of Iowa. The new 120,000 sf facility includes bio-safety level 3 (BSL3) critical containment laboratories, offices, and administrative areas.

The Laboratory’s Disease Control Division provides essential diagnostic testing and services for communicable disease control. The staff provides diagnostic services for rabies, sexually transmitted diseases, and other pathogens. The facility also oversees the Iowa Neonatal Metabolic Screening Program and the Environmental Quality Division. The project received a LEED Gold certification from the USGBC.
