Facility Dynamics Engineering was co-founded by J. Jay Santos, P.E, and E. Lon Brightbill, P.E., the principals of FDE. With their extensive knowledge and experience combined with their respect and integrity in the field, Jay and Lon form a solid foundation upon which the company and its employees are able to advance and grow.

 

Brightbill,Lon E. Lon Brightbill, P.E. has over 30 years of experience and is a recognized laboratory commissioning expert with an unparalleled record of developing innovative and successful solutions for complex systems and situations. Lon was the first to create and develop software programs integrating IT technology with building commissioning to facilitate a thorough, efficient, and superior approach to building optimization. Additionally, Lon originated and developed commissioning guidelines, controls, and commissioning standards for the National Institutes of Health and other clients. As principal-in-charge, Chief Engineer, and Project Manager, Lon manages and conducts laboratory commissioning projects ranging in size from 150,000 to 1.5 million sf including BSL-3 and BSL-4 labs, research buildings, and clinical centers. He also oversees commissioning and retro-commissioning projects including state of the art data centers, chilled water plants, district utility plants, and central heating plants. Lon also provides expertise in controls design and master planning and manages the implementation, configuration, and execution of PACRATTM, our continuous commissioning software.

 

Santos,Jay J. Jay Santos, P.E. has more than 30 years of experience in controls design, controls Master Planning, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and training. Jay is a recognized expert with a preeminent record of conceiving and implementing innovative, energy and cost-efficient designs in the fields of DDC controls, Building Controls Master Planning, and Building Automation Systems (BAS). He is also a renowned lecturer, educator, and author. Jay’s specialty is in developing BAS user guides covering interoperability concerns, architecture, hardware and software issues, and assisting owners and engineers in designing and selecting systems that best meet their BAS needs. Additionally, Jay teaches commissioning and DDC controls classes, conducts on-site training programs, provides technical consulting, and presents papers and lectures on commissioning, controls, and HVAC diagnostics. As principal-in-charge, Jay oversees review processes and identifies commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy-conservation strategies based on his in-depth knowledge of the commissioning process and building optimization. He also supervises numerous commissioning and retro-commissioning projects, manages the implementation of PACRATTM, and oversees contract administration and project quality control/quality assurance.
