Facility Dynamics Engineering was the commissioning authority for the 25,000 sf Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland. The facility is situated on 18 acres and houses numerous museum type exhibits featuring plants, animals, and life on the Chesapeake Bay. The center also includes indoor exhibits and displays with outdoor trail guides, an auditorium, classrooms, office space, and a NatureSphere -- a state-of-the-art digital planetarium. The Nature Center also has space for conferences, meetings and special event areas.

The three-story center was built with energy conservation and sustainability in mind. It uses the newest technologies designed to maximize energy conservation and renewable resources including Geothermal heating/air-conditioning, porous paving, solar panels, and other features that make this building environmentally friendly. The building is one of only three LEED Certified Platinum buildings in the State of Maryland.
